“Liberal values are the basis of our policies. With concrete goals, and anchored in reality, we work for more ecologically sustainable policies, better education, increased employment and the well-being of all.
You are welcome to join us! ”

CHRISTOFFER INGO,
chairperson of Swedish Youth

Swedish Youth of Finland

Swedish Youth of Finland is the political youth organization of the Swedish People’s Party of Finland. We are working for an open and tolerant society where multilingualism and multiculturalism are seen as valuable assets. We want to build an economically viable, socially liberal country and are encouraging entrepreneurship.

The most important issue for Svensk Ungdom is the freedom of choice. We think that every individual should be able to choose how they want to live their life as long as it does not harm or violate others. Liberalism also means for us that every person should have the same opportunities regardless of sexual orientation, gender, ethnicity, religion, disability or background. The organization does not compromise when it comes to human rights. We believe in an egalitarian and liberal Finland. We also make ecologically sustainable decisions and are working for a cleaner and sustainable environment. We actively present our policies through campaigns, our candidates in elections and our elected representatives in municipalities and  organizations.

Swedish Youth’s highest governing body is its annual Congress – Kongressen, which is organized annually in spring. At the Congress we discuss political guidelines and elect a new board. In addition we arrange annual seminars where we discuss current political themes.

ANNUAL ACTIVITIES AND TRAININGS

  • January/February – PolitiKurs, training in political skills
  • April – Kongressen, Annual Congress
  • August – Summer seminar
  • October/November – Storsamling, autumn seminar

We also arrange other events such as after work discussions and excursions, and participate in the congress of the Swedish People’s Party. The different districts organize their own events consisting of anything from summer meetings to seminars and study trips. You can contact the office if you are interested in participating in our activities and trainings.

We want an international Finland, which is a part of the Nordic countries and Europe. Swedish Youth is active in a number of international organizations and cooperates with other youth organizations in the Nordic countries and in Europe. The organization is a member of the Nordic Centre Youth (NCF), European Liberal Youth (LYMEC) and International Federation of Liberal Youth (IFLRY). Svensk Ungdom also has a representative in The Nordic Youth Council (NYC).
